Raw Food Kasha Recipes

The raw food diet is based on consuming unprocessed, preferably organic, whole plant-based foods. Different ingredients can be used. For example:

  • fresh fruits and vegetables
  • nuts and seeds
  • beans and grains
  • sun-dried fruits
  • other organic or natural foods which have not been processed
  • freshly made fruit and vegetable juices
  • purified water
  • coconut milk

Raw and living foods are believed to contain essential vitamins, minerals and food enzymes. The cooking process is thought to destroy them.

Here are two kasha recipes for followers of raw food diet:

Raw Oatmeal Kasha

Soak 1 cup of oat-flakes and 1/2 cup of raisins (washed in warm water first) over a night. In the morning, when flakes become soft, add the raisins. Peel 4 walnuts off their shells, crush them and add to kasha. Add 3 table spoons of honey. Mix well.

Raw Buckwheat Kasha

Combine buckwheat (1 glass) with water (1 glass) and leave for 5-6 hours. As the result the buckwheat should absorb all water and become thicker. Add finely cut onions, greens and vegetable oil. You can also add tomatoes. Mix well.

Comments: for real raw food recipe be sure that grains you are using were not treated with high temperature. Do not forget to wash all ingredients thoroughly.

Whole Grains Fact:  Enjoy breakfasts that include high-fiber cereals, such as bran flakes, shredded wheat or oatmeal. Substitute whole-wheat toast or whole-grain bagels for plain bagels.  See more about whole grain facts and recipes.
