Vegetarian
and Vegan Recipes
Vegetarianism is the practice of not consuming
meat. There are different varieties of
vegetarianism: some people refuse to consume
only meat products while allowing use of animal derivatives, such as dairy products or eggs.
The followers of strict vegetarianism (also
known as veganism) avoid any animal products
including meat, fish, poultry as well as anything derived or produced by animals like honey, eggs and dairy
products.
Almost all kasha recipes that traditionally
call for use of animal products can be
easily adjusted by substituting vegan
alternatives, e.g. coconut or soy milk can replace cow's milk;
butter can be replaced with vegetable oil,
eggs or meat can be replaced by products made from non-animal
sources such as soy.
