Barley Puree (great recipe for kids)
Ingredients:
Barley (16oz)
Water (72oz)
Milk (8oz)
Grinded Cottage Cheese or Tvorog (12oz)
Butter (2tbsp)
Salt (1tsp)
Serves 4
Cooking Instructions:
1. Bring water to a boil and add barley
2. Reduce heat to low, cover, and simmer removing foam until you
kasha you see thick "slime" start to appear.
3. Drain excess water, add milk and continue to simmer stirring slowly until barley becomes mushy
4. Add cottage cheese, butter and salt, mix
thoroughly
Comments:
If kasha is too viscous then you can make it mushier
by adding extra milk in the end. Add sugar or
honey. Good whole
