Grain Recipe: Barley Kasha with Canadian bacon
Ingredients:
Barley (16oz)
Milk (8oz)
Water (72oz)
Butter (2 table spoons)
Canadian bacon (1.5 lb)
Serves 4
Cooking Instructions:
1. Bring water a boil and add barley
2. Reduce heat to a low, cover, and simmer removing foam until you see thick
"slime" start to appear
3. Cut bacon in very small pieces
4. Drain excess water, add milk and bacon, and continue to simmer stirring slowly until barley becomes
mushy
5. Add butter, mix thoroughly
Comments:
This recipe can be easy modified by replacing bacon with any smoked meat or even with hot dogs.
